ABOUT INLINE TRANSLATION SERVICES
History
Founded in 1983, Inline Translation Services, Inc. is headquartered ten miles north of downtown Los Angeles in a spacious, custom-designed office in the Glendale Galleria Office Tower. Inline Translation Services has long been an active participant in key industry and professional associations, including the American Translators Association and its specialized language divisions, the California Manufacturers and Technology Association and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Staff
Inline’s five full-time project manager/editors oversee the work of more than 130 professional translators, editors, proofreaders and typesetters. Inline's managers are committed to a career in translation services, and have been with Inline Translation Services, on average, for more than eight years. Each manager is fluent in English, Spanish and at least one other language.
Your Inline manager/editor is your permanent contact at Inline Translation Services. In addition, weekly staff meetings keep Inline managers current on active projects and they all stand ready to assist you. Inline Translation Services’ innovative combination of marketing, project management and editing functions means highly personal involvement in your projects and commitment to timely completion with no cost overruns.
Translators
Inline's professional translators are industry leaders. They have extensive training, experience, and impressive credentials. They are certified by the American Translators Association as well as state and federal courts. Many are graduates of the Monterey Institute of International Studies and/or former employees of the U.S. State Department, the United Nations, and other international organizations.
Inline's translators routinely speak at national and international translation conferences, and several have served on the American Translators Association Board of Directors. Some have worked directly with U.S. Presidents and other world leaders. Together, our project managers and translators deliver the highest level of proficiency and professionalism.
How Inline Translation Services works
Inline's goal is "meaning-based translation," not simply a word-for-word conversion from one language to another. Inline Translation Services preserves your original message in culturally-sensitive translated text to communicate clearly with your target audience.
To start, your project manager/editor scrutinizes your English text, requests clarification when needed, and suggests changes if the message will not translate well. When necessary, Inline Translation Services can even help create clear, unambiguous English source text that will deliver relevant messages across languages and cultures.
Inline's translators are not only multilingual, they are:
- trained in translation—the ability to move information between two languages;
- experts in specific subjects such as accounting, banking, chemistry, engineering, medicine, and law; and
- professional writers who can spot potential problems in the original text.
Your project manager/editor makes sure the nuances and the technical terms of your original text are maintained in translation, and that the same terminology is used from one project to the next.
Finally, Inline Translation Services always encourages clients to establish internal translation review procedures that promote cooperation and expedite project completion.
Quality assurance
We take quality very seriously at Inline Translation Services. Our quest for top quality translations affects everything we do and how we do it. Quality and quality assurance permeate every aspect of our organization.
The foundation of Inline’s quality assurance program consists of a proprietary and time-tested seven step project management process, conformance to reputable and highly respected industry standards for written translation, and professional liability insurance furnished by Lloyd’s of London.
We have developed a seven step project management process as a result of our experience during the past quarter century of translation work. See Inline’s Approach to Translation: The Seven Steps.
Given our systematic approach to project management, Inline Translation Services was one of the first corporate members of the American Translators Association to fully comply with the ASTM International Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation. This standard was published in June 2006 by ASTM International, which was originally known as the American Society for Testing and Materials. (ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world and a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services.)
Finally, Lloyd’s of London insures all Inline translations for accuracy. This professional liability insurance was designed specifically for the translation industry and provides significantly broader coverage than generic errors and omissions insurance. Inline Translation Services has maintained continuous coverage through Lloyds since the program's inception and plans to do so indefinitely. Continuous coverage is essential due to the importance of the dates when translations are completed and the dates of any subsequent claims made under this type of insurance.
